In the short time that Raymond Dupont-Fahn took over the family domaine, he has done an outstanding job in producing wines that always punch above their weight. The domaine is situated in the village of Tailly in Meursault, managing a total of 10 hectares around Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Auxey-Duresses.
Though he owns just the one Premier Cru of Puligny Les Folatieres, the many lieux-dits that he vinifies individually all show great distinction and class, and one in particular has always held a special place in his heart – Bourgogne “Chaumes des Perrieres”. This is essentially a declassified Meursault Dos d’Ane, with part of the terrain also lying within the Chaumes des Perrieres site too. This was a fallow plot at the time, purchased by his grandfather Jean in 1975. He had at the time judged the topsoil to be too shallow and subsequently applied for permission from the INAO to add in another 20cm layer of topsoil which was approved. However this was met with some heavy protesting by local growers which led to the site being downgraded to a Bourgogne appellation. Despite the declassification, this continues to be an excellent site that is located just above Coche-Dury’s own vineyards, and the roots penetrate deep below the rocks of Les Dos d’Ane whilst also benefiting from the climate and terroir of Chaumes des Perrieres.
