Bertrand Bachelet Meursault Clos du Cromin 2020
Meursault Clos du Cromin takes its name from the village "Le Cromin", situated in the north-east of the appellation, close to the Volnay vineyard, in rich, clay soil. Ageing takes place in oak barrels, of which 25% are new, for about twelve months. The wine reveals a beautifully transparent and brilliant color, a subtle nose of citrus fruits, butter and honey, and a long finish.

“The 2020 Montagny 1er Cru Le Mont Laurent is very good, mingling aromas of crisp orchard fruit, freshly baked bread, clear honey, dried white flowers and nutmeg in an inviting bouquet, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and muscular palate that's rich but incisive, with terrific tension, tangy acids and a penetrating finish. This bottling derives from a two-hectare, high-altitude monopole characterized by mauve Triassic clays.”

"The estate is tiny, only 3 hectares split over 10 parcels for the 5 crus produced. Phillippe Jouan farms vines between 45 – 70 years old. He applies a short cuvaison of 12-14 days with gentle extraction, then an early malolactic followed by a year in barrel with 25 -40% new oak from François Frères.”

“The vines date back to 1950 (0.83ha) and 1999 (0.27ha). Clear bright purple. The nose is especially heady, actually the most interesting of the three Volnay 1ers crus. Les Brouillards ripens later than its neighbours Les Angles and Fremiers. Superbly succulent, with a beautiful juicy deep black and red fruit. Good length.”
