Champagne du Goupil

Background

Rooted in the Grand Cru village of Avize in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, Champagne du Goupil represents one of the most compelling micro-houses to emerge on the Côte des Blancs. The brand was created by Anne-Sophie Hennique, whose background includes commercial and marketing experience at Champagne Salon and Champagne Delamotte, alongside her partner Gaëtan Gillet, winemaker, owner of the Estate and the Château d’Avize as well.

Anne-Sophie’s path to the region is unconventional. A literature graduate from the Sorbonne and a published novelist, she relocated from Versailles to Champagne over a decade ago. The estate borrows its name and emblem from the goupil, an archaic French term for fox, referencing a narrative of a wanderer who left Versailles in search of ultimate expression, found it in the chalk of the Côte des Blancs, and stayed.

Production is strictly artisanal and kept intentionally small. The winemaking focuses exclusively on vintage-dated, parcel-driven Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs sourced from mature vines averaging around 40 years of age. Every phase of vinification is handled manually, with extended aging on lees forming a foundational pillar of the house style.

2026 Releases

The house expands its portfolio this year with a carefully structured hierarchy of cuvées, each designed to highlight distinct site specificity and exceptional long-term aging potential:

·       New Flagship: Blanc de Blancs Le Magnifique – serving as the defining flagship bottling of the house, showcasing the pinnacle of their craft.

·       Special Edition: La Vie en Rose – a limited seasonal release crafted specifically to capture the vibrancy of spring and summer drinking.

·       Parcellaire Series (Single-Vineyard, Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs):

This milestone launch marks a significant evolution for a producer rapidly becoming a benchmark-seeking grower on the Côte des Blancs.
