Gitton was the first domaine to discover the special "Silex" soils that inspired many other winemakers including the late Didier Dagueneau to plant vines here. The Jurassic soils that consist of fossilized sea shells contributes immensely to the intense gunflint and mineral characters of this Sancerre.
