Dear Friends,
Domaine Bernard Bonin might be relative newcomer into the Burgundian winemaking scene, but that hasn't stopped them from quickly becoming one of the most sought after vignerons in Meursault, and increasingly one of our favourite domains too. With their seven hectares of vines planted across Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, Nicolas Bernard and Veronique Bonin follows what they call a "lutte-integrée" philosophy, which essentially means a mix of everything from organic, biodynamic as well as sustainable viticulture depending on the needs of the vineyards, the youngest of which were planted in 1971. What defines Bernard Bonin's wines is their great balance, especially in the Meursaults which marry the modern rich butteriness with a lean elegant acidity. And despite being among the earliest to harvest in the region, there is never any compromise on fruit concentration, instead there is always a distinctive, layered richness that makes their wines so distinct. In short, these are incredibly refined wines with allocations that we highly recommend you snap up whilst prices are still reasonable.
Cheers and happy hunting!
