Perrot Minot

Having been on the rise for many years, Christophe Perrot-Minot deserves all the great attention that is lavished upon him. From the day he took over from his father Henri in 1993, a very bright spotlight has been thrust upon this talented winemaker. And as the domain has grown in size with acquisitions over the years, as has its reputation and the praise that has followed it. His purchase of the renowned Pernin-Rossin domain in Vosne-Romanee during 2000 was a turning point that had allowed him to expand their holdings exponentially.

With an exceptional army of old vines (seven Grand Crus ranging from 40 to 100 years old) at his disposal, Perrot-Minot places a great emphasis on being respectful to nature and terroir, shunning any chemicals or fertilizers. His yields are limited very severely, 40 hl/ha for his villages, and 20-25 hl/ha for his Grand Crus. It goes without saying that harvesting is done completely by hand followed with very rigorous sorting. Each vineyard and parcel are fermented separately, with pressing completed as gentle as possible to release only free run juices. What ensues is racking into oak barrels that are a maximum of 30-40% new, allowing the wine to freely express its brilliant terroir.

Overall, Perrot-Minot's wines are defined by great ripeness, concentration, and intensity but always display sleek tannins with a polished nuance. Bruce Sanderson of Wine Spectator comments that “Christophe Perrot-Minot continues to hone his style, making more elegant, textural wines each vintage. These are some of the sexiest Burgundies you will find”. And with each successive vintage garnering further praise, it is clear that the wines of this domain know no bounds.
